All along, it has been our vision, our mission, our dream to touch and change countless lives in a positive way.
The
Cowgirls
Git-R-Dun domestic violence awareness campaign was conceived when several of our own members were in seriously dangerous life threatening
relationships. Many others shared the horrific survival stories from physically, sexually and physiologically abusive relationships that they had endured. We envisioned a non-profit organization that we would one day we start that could reach out and touch thousands of live, and protect our own.
Until the summer of 2010 it was just a dream. On July 31st everything changed.
It
was the tragic death of one of our own Cowgirls that motivated us to
action. Just two days after her birthday, three days after mine, and the night before she was to escape, Brenda L. (sunnie) Ahrens was murdered, strangled
to death at the hands of her abusive boyfriend. Many of our members had convinced her to get out while she could, and one member was traveling to pick her up on August 1st when she was to receive her disability check. It was too late, she was GONE. He got her check.
I
t was only money that could
have made the difference. We vowed never to let that happen again. In her memory and honor, The
Brenda L. (sunnie) Ahrens Memorial Fund - for domestic violence victims in
crisis, was founded. On August 29th 2010 this web site was launched, our vision & mission was now grounded, with a face, and a purpose. Since that time we haven't looked back and we will NOT rest, we will NOT waiver, we will NOT falter and we will NOT fail. We WILL honor Brenda's name and the names of the MILLIONS of victims of domestic violence that have parishes before, since, and are sure to follow. We vow to make a difference in the fight against domestic violence, increase awareness, and help countless thousands by pushing through the darkness yet another mile.
It is our goal to raise one million dollars for each of these three
very worthy causes:
Victims of Domestic Violence, Breast Cancer Patients and Homeless Veterans. It will take the collective efforts of hundreds of determined, caring, giving hearts to organize The Cowgirls Git-R-Dun Guinness World Record Ride, a benefit motorcycle ride around America. It will take the participation of thousands of riders to complete at least
one "Leg" (the average distance of 250 miles, between one check point to
another along the route) to reach our goal of one million dollars for EACH of the causes. With Your help, we will Git-R-Dun!
It's a Historical Event of "Woodstock" proportions, open to all that care to ride with us to fight domestic violence, help breast cancer patients and homeless veterans.
It will
benefit victims of domestic violence by providing them with necessary emergency funds to get them out of dangerous and life
threatening situation, providing them with means of public
transportation if necessary, food, clothing, and afford them the necessary means
to relocate to a safe environment or shelter.
They will be introduced to crisis resource
centers, counseling and education to help prevent them from falling into
future abusive relationships, be taught the warning signs of abuse and abusive
personality traits. Additionally, they will be assisted in finding permanent employment and housing.as well as assisting them in finding permanent employment and housing.
It is an ambitious undertaking but with Gods blessings and
generous hearts like your, we will Git-R-Dun and help
prevent the loss of life and help provide them with the
necessary knowledge that can break the cycle to help them live happy
fruitful lives.
As
a non-profit, Florida corporation established on February 10th, 2011,
we are well on our way to making a difference in the lives of Victims of
Domestic Violence, Breast Cancer Patients, and Homeless Veterans through our fund raising efforts of The Cowgirls Git-R-Dun World Record Ride.
We are currently seeking promoters & coordinators (we will train,
and you will be generously compensated for your efforts by our sponsor,
without taking away from the causes). We are also interested in helping
any ride clubs or organizations that need to raise funds for their
organization by referring their members and others to the ride.
We are also seeking additional corporate sponsors, volunteers, ride captains and ride sisters.
This Ride and our goals are larger then life and
we are depending on the participation of good-hearted people like YOU,
to make it a reality NOT a fantasy, and touch and change countless lives. There is something to do for everyone interested, big or small; we hope you will join us in this dream come true in the making.
We Believe In Dreams, We Believe in Angels, We Believe in YOU!
Please visit our ride page

Abba - I Have A Dream Lyrics
I have a dream, a song to sing, to help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of the fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels, something good in everything I see
I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
I have a dream, a fantasy, to help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels, something good in everything I see
I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
I have a dream, a song to sing, to help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels, something good in everything I see
I believe in angels, when I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
I'll cross the stream, I have a dream
